Mr. Schatz is a recognized expert in guiding developers of innovative drugs, devices, and diagnostic products through the reimbursement process. He develops and implements reimbursement strategies to expand Medicare coverage, create new codes and improve payment for innovative medical devices, clinical lab tests, imaging diagnostics, monitoring systems, drugs and biotechnology products. Across his career in the life science industry he has worked in many specialty areas including orthopedics, minimally invasive surgery, urology, ophthalmology, cardiology, oncology, ENT, wound care and neurology.
Coordinating with physician key opinion leaders, hospitals and medical specialty societies, Mr. Schatz enables clients to engage with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), US Congress and other decision makers to improve reimbursement.
For start-up and Fortune 500 companies, Mr. Schatz is part of the Quorum team that integrates health economics and outcomes research, market access, and strategic product planning into product development, clinical trials, regulatory approvals, marketing, product launch, sales, and customer support.
Prior to joining Quorum, he was a healthcare partner at the international law firm of Reed Smith LLP, serving as head of the Health Care Group in Washington, DC, and as the Life Science Integration Partner in its Beijing and Shanghai offices.
